Ram recalls 76,000 pickups for braking concerns
[ 0 ] December 21, 2010 | Rick
Ram Trucks manufactured between March 2009 and October 2010 and equipped with a diesel engine and Hydroboost brake system may experience slow brake pedal return. This issue is created by excessive venting by the power steering reservoir cap. Slow pedal return can also create delayed reaction of the brake lights turning off, potentially causing an accident.

Chrysler will notify users of affected vehicles and dealers will replace power steering reservoir caps free of charge. The campaign for this recall is due to begin in February 2011. Concerned owners may contact Chrysler directly at 800.853.1403 and reference safety recall number K33.

Ford may Resume Second Place Among Car Sales in US
Posted December 22 2010 02:52 PM by staff
Filed under: Opinion, Ford

The collective corporate entity known as General Motors resides in first with a 19.3-percent share. Toyota, which was in second place, saw its marketshare slip to 15.2 percent due to its recall issues.

Thus Ford is in the position to reclaim second place in the sales race. The American automaker already has its hands on 16.4 percent of the market. The hotly selling F-Series pickup trucks continue to dominate the sales chart with 473,461 units sold through November. Trailing in second is the Fusion at 196,590 midsize sedans. The Focus (159,679), Escape (172,335), and Edge (107,345) have also done their part to keep the masses satisfied.

Lincoln has seen a 7.4-percent boost in sales through November. Mercury has been blowing out its inventory and is seeing a 2.3-percent jump on limited inventory. In total, Ford Motor Company is up 21 percent for the year through November while the industry gained 11 percent. Come 2011, Ford will officially be the second-largest automaker in the U.S. in terms of sales.

Last year, Ford claimed 15.3 percent of the market; in 2008, they held 14.2 percent. George Pipas, Ford's U.S. sales analyst, says, "it's the first time since 1993 that we [Ford] have gained share in the U.S. back-to-back two years in a row." You'll have to look back to the 1980s for the last time Ford added one or more points of market share as well.

Chrysler recalls over 76,000 Ram Trucks over Flawed Power Steering Reservoir Cap
December 15, 2010

2010 Ram 2500 HD Laramie Crew Cab Engine
A design flaw in the cap of the power steering reservoir has Chrysler recalling around 76,000 of its 2010-2011 Ram pickups.

2010-2011 Ram Pickup Truck

The Problem: Certain diesel-equipped 2010 – 2011 Dodge Ram trucks use a hydroboost braking design that taps additional power from the power steering system. According to Chrysler, a design issue in the cap of the power steering fluid reservoir could result in excessive pressure and affect the brake pedals, making them slow to return after use. Slow brake return leaves brake lights on longer which, according to the NHTSA, may result in a crash.

The Fix: Chrysler states it will notify all Ram owners of the recall starting in February to bring their truck in for examination. If the vehicle has the defective power steering reservoir cap, the automaker will replace it free of charge.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 76,122 Dodge Rams, all built from March 2009 through October 2010, may be affected.

Hulst Custom 2011 Ford F-350

SEMA 2010 Preview: Hulst Customs 2011 Ford F-350
By Robby DeGraff
Transforming a 2011 Ford F-350 into a full-size toolbox-themed truck is what Jason Hulst of Hulst Customs plans to accomplish for Oshkosh, Wis.-based Snap-On Tools.
Take a glimpse at this SEMA concept rendering, and you’ll recognize the mighty F-350 Super Duty Lariat Crew Cab 4X2 dually has been tastefully transformed.
While the 400 horsepower, 800 pounds-feet of torque 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbo-diesel engine remains unchanged, Hulst Customs adds on a DJM suspension kit consisting of front Dream Beams and a rear flip kit.
Planned modifications include Hulst Customs’ new rear fenders and front fender flares; a sleek hood scoop; revised two-bar grille and front fascia with LED side markers; side rockers with modified running boards; a rear bed lid spoiler; and new side fender vents, cab lights on top. Lift up the Gaylord’s fiber-glass truck bed lid to find a minitub in the rear bed, a Snap-On toolbox and, of course, a bumping stereo system. Open the crew cab’s doors and immerse yourself in a luxurious cabin appointed with Katzkin leather seats complete with Snap-On embroidery, a leather headliner and matching painted interior panels. Cabin entertainment is provided by a Sony Xplod stereo system with a DVD head unit up front, four bass-pounding subwoofers, two sets of component speakers and one set of 6x9 speakers all powered by four amps. There’s also a monitor in each headrest and a 22-inch flat-panel monitor (which, we presume, drops down from the headliner).
Finishing off the Snap-On tools F-350 is a custom Planet Color two-tone Candy Red over pearl white paint job. This tough truck will wear a set of 24-inch American Force one-off rims exclusively designed for Snap-On, wrapped in six 305/35-24 Pirelli Scorpion tires.
Hulst Customs is a design and fabrication shop building high end hot rods, street rods, and customs. Located in Merlin, Oregon, Hulst Customs has been building award winning automobiles for over 30 years, including the Striker F-150 and F-350 custom pickups that debuted at the 2008 SEMA Show.
We’ll check out the finished truck at this year's SEMA show next month.

SEMA 2010

Tuesday, November 2 – Friday, November 5, 2010

SEMA 2010 is fast approaching and all indications show that this is going to be a great show despite the still slow economy.  Booth space is up from last year and I expect the attendance to be up as well.

This is our first blog attempt, so it's short and sweet.  Let me leave you with these words, we as Americans are the driving force behind the economy, we must spend to drive sales!  We are the only ones who can stop our jobs from going to China, India etc..  Lets spend a little more and stop looking for the best your local business and look for the made in America sign.
